Every Place Has a Story. Every Story Has a Song

Every folk musician will tell you that America isn’t just a country—it’s a collection of places, memories, and songs.

This month, the Salt Lake Strummers invite you to celebrate America’s birthday by visiting some of those special places… one song at a time.

From New Orleans to the Rocky Mountains, from San Francisco Bay to Kokomo, every stop on the map has inspired a songwriter. Some of these places we’ve visited. Others are still on our bucket lists. A few exist mostly in our imaginations. But each has become part of America’s musical landscape, and together they tell the story of a country through its music.

Join us as we sing our way across the map with favorites like On The Road AgainKing of the RoadMe and Bobby McGeeRocky Mountain HighCity of New OrleansHanalei MoonMargaritavilleDancing in the StreetsI’ve Been Everywhere, and more (including 4 songs that are new to the Strummers!)

Whether you’ve been playing for decades or you’re still learning your first chords, you’ll find a friendly, encouraging group that’s happy to have you. Our jams are relaxed, welcoming, and open to players of every skill level.

When the last chord has faded, don’t rush home. Stick around for refreshments, conversation, and a chance to visit with your fellow Ukulele-Americans!

So grab your ukulele, invite some friends, and come celebrate the places, the people, and the songs that have become part of America’s beautiful soundtrack.

Every place has a story. Every story has a song. Come help us sing a few of them on July 18th.
