Bringing the Best of the Ukulele World to Salt Lake City
One of the things we love most about the ukulele is that there’s always something new to learn.
A new strum. A new chord. A new song. A new friend.
That’s really what the Salt Lake Strummers has always been about. Sure, we get together every month to laugh, play music, enjoy refreshments, and have a great time. But underneath all of that is a simple mission:
Help one another become better ukulele players while building a welcoming community where everyone belongs.
Sometimes that means learning from each other.
Sometimes it means inviting some of the very best teachers and performers in the ukulele world to come teach all of us.
This fall, we’re excited to do exactly that.
September 15 — Ukulele Gent
If you’ve spent much time in the online ukulele community, you’ve probably come across Greg Gent, better known as Ukulele Gent.
Greg has built a wonderful online community through his weekly Facebook play-alongs, helping thousands of players learn new songs while reminding everyone that making music should be fun.
He’ll be joining us for an Tuesday evening workshop and play-along that’s sure to leave you with new ideas, new techniques, and probably a few new favorite songs.

October 17 — Victoria Vox’s Birthday Bash!
We’re especially excited to welcome the incredibly talented Victoria Vox to Salt Lake City.
Victoria is an internationally recognized singer-songwriter, ukulele performer, and educator whose creativity has inspired audiences around the world. Her concerts are unforgettable, her workshops are packed with practical ideas, and her enthusiasm for music is absolutely contagious.
As luck would have it… She’s visiting us on her birthday!
So naturally we’re turning the day into Victoria Vox’s Birthday Bash!
The day will include workshops, a concert, and—knowing the Salt Lake Strummers—a few birthday smiles along the way.

November 16 — Kanekoa
We’ll wrap up the fall with one of Hawaii’s most exciting contemporary ukulele bands.
Kanekoa blends Hawaiian music, rock, blues, and improvisation into a style that’s energetic, entertaining, and unlike anything you’ve probably heard before.
Whether you’re already a fan or you’re discovering them for the first time, this workshop and concert promises to be a memorable evening.

Bringing artists like these to Utah takes planning, volunteer hours, financial support, and a bunch of great people working together.
The Salt Lake Strummers is more than a monthly jam.
We’re building a ukulele community.
A community where beginners feel welcome.

Where people encourage one another instead of competing with one another.
