Go Digital with Your Music Charts!

Did Santa bring you a new  Apple iPad for Christmas—or do you already have one and want to learn how to keep your music charts organized digitally? This workshop is for you! We’ll show you how to use Piascore, the app most Salt Lake Strummers rely on for digital music.

No ukuleles needed—we’re focusing on making your life easier while saving paper (and trees!).

 Note: This workshop is for Apple devices only. 

How to Prepare

Print or download the PDF handout – see below (a printed copy may be easier to reference).
Fully charge your iPad.
Be familiar with basic iPad navigation.
Know how to log in to your email and send/receive texts.
Optional: Have your Google or Dropbox password handy if you store music charts there.
Download the Piascore app before class (click here to link directly to the apple store)
- We highly recommend purchasing the one-time enhancement upgrade for full functionality, including sharing music on the fly.

We’ll split into two groups, taught by Carla Hansen and Marci Villa, so you can learn at your level:

Piascore 1 – Getting Started (Carla Hansen)

Navigate the app
Download songs from the internet
Create a setlist
Share music with others

Piascore 2 – Enhancements (Marci Villa)

Share music and duplicate setlists
Download songs from iCloud or other drives
Add paper charts by taking photos
Use tools to improve performance
Personalize Piascore for better organization

This is a hands-on workshop with plenty of helpers—perfect for beginners and experienced users alike!

The makers of Kala Brand ukuleles have recently fallen victim to fraudulent websites impersonating Kala.

Here are some important tips they shared to help us identify and avoid fraudulent websites

Always check the website address: Before you click on any links or enter information, look closely at the web address. Scammers often use addresses that are slightly different (e.g., kalabrand-shop.com or kalabrandmusic.net). Kala’s official site is simply www.kalabrand.com.
Look for the padlock icon: A secure website will have a padlock icon in the browser’s address bar, indicating an HTTPS connection. While this doesn’t guarantee legitimacy, its absence is a red flag.
Check for suspicious discounts: We love offering special deals, but if a price seems too good to be true—like an extremely deep discount on a new, popular item—it could be a red flag. Always verify the site to be sure you’re on our official page.
Check for poor grammar or spelling: Scam sites often contain numerous typos or grammatical errors.
Verify contact information: Legitimate businesses will have clear contact information. If you can’t find a phone number, email, or physical address, be cautious.
