Election Results 2026

As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, The Salt Lake Strummers is led by a 5-person Board Of Directors. In May, we’ve elected new Board Members. Three positions are refilled in odd-numbered years, two positions in even-numbered years. So this year we needed to fill two positions. But first,

Thanks to our previous Board Members!

Please welcome our new Board Members!

Wait… What?

You are seeing that right. Each Board Member serves a 2-year term. Carla and Fargo had completed their terms. But they both ran to be on the Board again for another two-year term. Nobody else ran against them, so the election process was very simple.

Congratulations to Carla and Fargo! We have benefited greatly from your leadership and we are looking forward to your efforts to make the Salt Lake Strummers successful in the next two years. Volunteers like you is at the heart of what makes the Salt Lake Strummers so great!

What about the others?

Dick, Stephanie, and Lisa were elected in the last election, so they will continue to serve for the second year of their 2-year terms.

Elections change in 2027

The Board has made a recent decision to change when we elect new Board members: Instead of electing new board members in May, going forward, we will elect new board members in January. We’ll also hold our “Annual Meeting” (all at the January Jam). Our hope is that this will make transitioning between incoming/outgoing Board Members, and make financial reporting at the Annual Meeting a little easier. Yes, this means that Dick’s, Stephanie’s, and Lisa’s terms will end 5 months sooner, but they are ok with that.

This is Dick’s 2nd term and because (unlike some government officials!) we have term limits, he will not be able to run for the board again in January; per the Strummers Bylaws, he must wait at least a year to run for a position on the Board again.

Stephanie and Lisa were elected last year for the first time. So when they have completed their terms (in January), they can choose to run again, or not. Either way, we are incredibly fortunate to have them leading the Strummers today!

Other Board News

In other news, we have recently submitted a request for a grant from the Salt Lake County Zoo Arts, and Parks (ZAP). Our hope is that our request will be approve and we will be able to use the funds to bring Stu Fuchs to Salt Lake City for an extended workshop in Spring, 2027. Keep your fingers crossed (and/or pray!).
